This Muslim-owned restaurant serves up one of few delicious, authentic halal-certified Mexican feast you can find in the west. One of the key points in Mexican cuisine is the distinct blend of spices, seasonings and vibrant colors that keeps you coming back for more, which Jalapeño South-West got down to a T.

2. Birdfolks

Is there a single meat-lover on the planet that doesn’t just go bonkers for good fried chicken? No? I didn’t think so. Orange & Teal Café is fast becoming one of our new favorite spots where emphasis is not only placed on the quality of food served, but also the conversations that take place. Taiwan has some of the best people and best food, which makes it such a popular travel destination. Alas, the pandemic has stopped us from visiting but if you were looking for a taste of Taiwan, this is the spot for you. 5. Daehwa Vegetarian Restaurant

It isn’t easy by any means to find a good vegetarian restaurant, much less a good Korean vegetarian restaurant. The wide range of choices you can find tastes as good as the real deal despite not having meat in it, and the place sees a healthy following as a result. They also offer the chance for special needs staff to integrate into the fast paced society, with almost half of their service crew being people with special needs, which is certainly extremely commendable.

Being one of the more well-known steamboat brands, Beauty in The Pot is definitely no stranger to steamboat-lovers. 1. Ice Cream Frenzy Pte Ltd

If you are looking for a more cozy experience, definitely head on over to Ice Cream Frenzy Pte Ltd. The exterior has a vintage, homey vibe and walking in you will find yourself greeted by the very friendly shop owner, Uncle Tom. 2. Burnt Cones

3. Hundred Acre Creamery

The first thing that comes to mind with the words “Hundred Acre Creamery” most definitely is Winnie the Pooh, and this inspired café was the wonderful result borne from many experiments during the Circuit Breaker by the owners. Hawker Eats
1. Chai Ho Satay

Satay when it's grilled to perfection and coupled with a delicious side of wonderfully mixed spicy peanut sauce will always remain a crowd favorite. At Chai Ho, they offer some of the cheapest (but still delicious) satays in Singapore, going at 50c a stick. With its flavors and affordable price points, there’s no doubt there will be queues but definitely give it a go if you are in the area!

6. The Kins’ Specialty Coffee

Haw Par Villa

After so many years, Haw Par Villa remains the one place that left the deepest impression on me after visiting with my parents. One of the attractions there I will never forget is definitely the infamous 10 Courts of Hell that definitely contains way too much nightmare material for an impressionable kid. Regardless, this is undoubtedly the most unique theme park Singapore has to offer and a must-go - just maybe - leave your kids at home.

Lee Kong Chian Natural History Museum

A great place for learning more on some of the history of Singapore, this museum not only houses the Raffles Natural History Collection but also offers a range of curriculum-based educational workshops and other programmes for teachers and students, and gallery tours and workshops for visitors. NUS Museum

Another museum located in the National University of Singapore, this one offers free admission and has over 8,000 artefacts and artworks across four collections - namely the The South and Southeast Asian Collection, The Lee Kong Chian Collection, The Ng Eng Teng Collection and The Straits Chinese Collection. This is a great idea for a day out with young ones that will also help educate them.

Yong Siew Toh Conservatory of Music

The third location worth exploring in NUS goes to the Yong Siew Toh Conservatory of Music, where events are held regularly, sharing good music. Unfortunately due to COVID-19 restraints, the venue hasn’t seen external audiences for over a year and currently offer livestreams only. Regardless, definitely add this to your to-go list for when the situation gets better if you enjoy orchestras!

Reflections at Bukit Chandu

Reflections at Bukit Chandu was previously slated for redevelopment works in 2018 and has recently reopened last month with the addition of never-before-seen footage of wartime hero Adnan Saidi. The immersive exhibition is housed in a bungalow that closely connects to the site’s history, and uses contextual artefacts for a multi-faceted look at Bukit Chandu and Pasir Panjang.

This community park has actually served as an outdoor classroom for Ngee Ann Polytechnic students since 2007, and also features places and activities like an allotment garden, playgrounds and nature playgarden. Allotment gardening plots are provided for those who wants their own space to nurture their green fingers, and each plot can be leased for three years at a charge.

West Coast Park

Embrace nature at West Coast park, which is themed as "Play Centre in the West". Other than the usual greenery and trails, this park offers a range of activities that lives up to its moniker. There is a free public dog park where you can either bring your best friend for a run or just simply ogle other cuties, flying fox at a sand covered playground, or even bring out your inner Katniss Everdeen at the archery range hidden under the highway.

The Green Corridor

This walking trail links Clementi Forest and Old Bukit Timah Railway Station. The name was derived from the amount of greenery surrounding the trail, and with the railway parts that were preserved makes for a splendid place to explore and perhaps take a few shots for your Instagram.

Kent Ridge Park

This historical park is a great place to learn more about the heritage of Singapore, being the site where one of the last battles for Singapore was fought during World War II. Go on the Canopy Walk which spans approximately 0.3km in length, which offers the unique experience of walking through a secondary forest at eye-level with the forest canopy.

Home to one of the restaurants we have introduced above, Canopy HortPark, this next location ‘is a one-stop gardening resource hub that brings together gardening-related, recreational, educational, research and retail activities under one big canopy in a park setting’.
